- - FIVE REASONS YOU SHOULD HAVE A MT. FURY DS-1 DOSAGE SUPERVISOR IN YOUR PLANT - -

1. POLYMER SAVINGS
ln typical dewatering applications, the Mt. Fury DS1 will reduce the polymer usage by 20-40%. The system accomplishes this through the use of a unique algorithm that eliminates overdosing. The controller continuously makes small changes in the polymer dosage, then monitors the feedback sensor to see what effect(s) these changes-have on filtrate quality. lf the controller sees no correlation between dosage changes and filtrate quality, it knows that overdosing is taking place and will automatically reduce polymer dosage.

2. PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION
We all know that both industrial and municipal waste treatment processes change constantly. Throughout the day, waste water and sludges gwith widely varying dosage requirements will pass through your system. Whether it's changes in the ratio of primary to secondary, pH, flow rate, or sludge consistency; the DS1 can handle it. The adaptive nature of the controller will guarantee consistent operation of your separation equipment through a wide variety of conditions. If your goal is to always achieve-the best separation possible, the controller can be operatedin a special "Optimization Mode," in which the user sets the setpoint to zero and the controller automatically adjusts dosage to achieve the cleanest effluent possible without overdosing/

3. SIMPLICITY
Your operators have better -ways to spend their time than on a maintenance intensive automatic controller or on a controller so complicated it takes weeks to understand and requires a computer expert to operate. With the DS1, an operator can learn all he needs to know about the system in just a few minutes. When you initialize the controller, it will automatically determine the proper proportional, integral and derivative gains for your process. Furthermore, it will continuously adjust these parameters to meet changes in your process‘s polymer demand. The control setpoint can be changed with just the turn of a knob, and manual control can be selected with the flick of switch. A variety of sensors are available for nearly every application to help make this system the most trouble free polymer control system available.

4. OPERATOR ALARMS
Problems are inevitable in any system. When problems occur, it is important-that the operator is made aware of them immediately. The Mt. Fury Polymer Control System is designed to do just that. lf your polymer pump quits pumping, your filtrate line gets plugged, the power to your sensor is unhooked or any of the components in the control system fail to function asrthey should, the operator will be alerted in time to prevent little problems from turning into big ones.

5. INFORMATION
With so many variables in your dewatering or water treatment. system, it‘s often difficult to determine the most cost effective operating parameters. How can you compare the effectiveness of different polymers, belt speeds or flow rates without a consistent point of comparison? With the Mt. Fury Polymer Control System, you simply keep the setpoint constant, vary the other parameters, and the controller will automatically adjust the polymer dosage to provide you with immediate information on the savings or cost -increases associated with these, changes. Alternativley, you can varv the setpoint while holding the other parameters constant and quickly determine the incremental costs associated with improved separation. Through use of the 4-20mA outputs or the RS-232 interface, all of this information can be recorded on a chart recorder or stored in a computer for future reference.
